The Town of DeMotte has plans for a new community center to be located in Spencer Park, just off Halleck Street or Highway 231. The center’s possibilities will be many, including a place to host family gatherings, meetings, showers, weddings, summer camps, craft fairs, be part of the Touch of Dutch Festival and other get-togethers. The estimated cost of the project is four million dollars and the community center would be funded through a municipal bond. At this time, the town is asking for property owners in the town limits of DeMotte to stop by the town hall at 112 South Carnation Street SE, just north of the Spencer Park grounds, to sign a form before February 24th, to make this happen. Property owner signatures are required per bond funding. The estimated date when the community center to be completed would be August, 2020.
