Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO), has announced the first phase of plans to convert to renewable energy by adding three new wind farms, two of which will be in nearby counties. The new farms would be tied into NIPSCO’s electric system and serve nearly 500,000 customers. The Jordan Creek Wind Project will be located in Benton and Warren Counties, and will include an estimated 160 wind turbines. NIPSCO will purchase the power directly from Jordan Creek, which will operate and maintain the facilities. The Rosewater Wind Project will be located in White County, and will include an estimated 25 turbines. NIPSCO expects to announce more renewable projects later this year.
