Man Injured Also Faces Preliminary Felony Charge

Indiana State Police said a Baltimore, Ohio man, 33 year old Joseph D. Smith, drove his vehicle into the median and crashed last Saturday afternoon, northbound on Interstate 65, just south of the U. S. 24 interchange.  Authorities said Good Samaritans removed the unresponsive man from his vehicle and CPR was performed.  Emergency medical personnel transported Smith to an area hospital and in route, were able to revive him.  Law enforcement stated an investigation at the scene revealed controlled substances were found inside the vehicle. and that Smith consented to a blood draw for chemical testing at the hospital.  The man was not immediately incarcerated following the test, because of his injuries.  A Preliminary felony charge of possession of a controlled substance (Cocaine), as well as four other misdemeanor charges were forwarded to the Jasper County Prosecutor for further consideration.
