Car-School Bus Crash in Jasper County

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office reported a Kankakee Valley School Bus and passenger vehicle crash around 8:08, Thursday morning, March 23rd, on U.S. Highway 231, approximately four miles north of State Road 14.  County law enforcement stated their investigation indicated the school bus was southbound and stopped with warning equipment activated, picking up a child when the bus was struck in the rear by the passenger vehicle.  A total of 18 students were on the bus at the time with 6 of them complaining of pain.   Area medics, with the assistance of Kankakee Valley School Corporation Nurses, evaluated all 18 students and they were either released to their parents and/or cleared to go to school. The driver of the vehicle was taken to an area hospital for their injuries.  The driver was not named, and county authorities stated the Indiana State Police is currently working the crash reconstruction with no further information available at this time. The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office thanked first responders and others for their help at the incident site.
