Wreaths Across America In DeMotte-12/14/24

Wreaths Across America, places wreaths upon veteran's graves in more than 4600 participating locations. including Rensselaer, Jasper County, Wheatfield, and for the first time, the DeMotte area. Chair for the event there and a member of the DeMotte American Legion Auxiliary #440, is Carla Jarrette.  We spoke with her about preparing for the day and the day itself.

 

Disaster Relief Efforts In Jasper County-How You Can Help

Jasper County Emergency Management Director Karen Wilson, talks about items needed for victims of Hurricane Helene, in Yancy County, North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee.  There are drop points  the next few days in Rensselaer and DeMotte.  Karen talks about those drop points, the days they are open and the times.  She also talks about businesses, organizations and students helping out.

 

Two Matching Grants For Major Projects In Newton County

Educator for Purdue Extension in Newton County, Deb Arsenau, talks about funding from grants for the Domestic Arts Restoration Project at the Newton County Fairgrounds, and also for the new park project in Morocco.  Deb also talks about various important meetings and dates for upcoming events

Fire Prevention Week With RVFD Chief Kenny Haun

Fire Chief Haun talks about what his department is doing during this week to talk about fire prevention and safety.  Also, an open house on October 10th, from 6-8 p.m., will take place at the fire station.  He also talks about a burn ban in Jasper County (NOTE: at the time of this interview on 10/8/24, the burn ban was in effect until 10/14/24).
